Yuan's Carmel Valley

S.C.Yuan's art captivated me as a teenager; I loved sitting in front of his art at the Carmel Art Association, wondering how anyone could paint so extravagantly and boldly.  Now I try and try to paint with a fraction of the looseness I see in his work.  I think his personal torment gave way through his art, expressing the freedom he maybe didn't feel in life.  Who knows.  I just love his work. This is my interpretation of one of his paintings.
